Media Warfare: Taiwan's Battle for the Cognitive Domain Customer Reviews
:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from G. L. -- Most important book written on the Chinese Communist Party's media warfare against Taiwan! Powerful! : Professor Kerry Gershaneck’s Media Warfare: Taiwan’s Battle for the Cognitive Domain, meticulously researched and documented the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) full-spectrum media campaign to attempt to divide and demoralize the Taiwanese people. Gershaneck clearly explains how the aggressive and relentless Media Warfare is part of an overall Political Warfare strategy conducted by CCP to annex Taiwan without having to militarily occupy the democratic island. His lucid explanation of the threat leads to his well thought out recommendations on how Taiwan and other countries can better fight the CCP’s media warfare. He notes how other countries can take lessons from Taiwan to prevent them from becoming a CCP tributary state. The eight chapters provide an in-depth historical background of the CCP’s efforts as well as an analysis of Taiwan’s efforts to fight back. His appendix uses the past and current CCP media warfare practices to anticipate the media warfare threat during wartime. Finally, his comprehensive bibliography will satisfy those who are interested in further research in this important threat. Media Warfare is a must-read book by anyone who cares about maintaining their own and anyone else’s basic human rights, especially the right to freedom of thought, religion, opinion, and expression; no unfair detainment; the right to freedom from torture and inhumane treatment; the right to privacy; and the right to democracy.
